The Solar Economy: Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Global Future
The Solar Economy: Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Global Future
The global economy and our way of life are based on the exploitation of fossil fuels, which not only threaten massive environmental and social disruption through global warming but, at present rates of consumption, will run out within decades, causing huge industrial dislocation and economic collapse. Even before then, the conflicts it causes in the Middle East and elsewhere will be frighteningly exacerbated. The alternative exists: renewable energy from renewable sources - above all, solar. Substituting renewable for fossil resources will take a new industrial revolution to avert the worst of the damage and establish a new international order. It can be done, and it can be done in time. The Solar Economy, by one of the world's most effective analysts and advocates, lays out the blueprints, showing how the political, economic and technological challenges can be met using indigenous, renewable and universally available resources, and the enormous opportunities and benefits that will flow from doing so.

Australia Making Great Strides With Solar Energy
Australia is one of the leading nations to make the switch for solar energy and finally get rid of dirty and polluted fossil fuel combustions. Thanks to the efforts of the government to encourage the use of solar power through rebates and incentives there has been an exponential rise in the number of its citizens & businesses making the switch to renewable energy. Statistics shows that Australia is one of the countries that have less carbon emission, though we are a progressive nation with a lot of manufacturing & industry.
Australia was blessed in almost every way to triumph in the search for renewable and clean energy. The country’s geographical position andweather conditions made it highly favourable for solar panels whether it is for home or commercial applications. The sun hours are long, wet season and cloudy days are less likely throughout the year, and solar panel system owners can maximize their energy production whole year round. Another physical characteristic that the country has is that the average home space of 200 square meters per home makesdecentralisation of energy production viable.
Aside from physical capacities the country also caters to another very important aspect in making any project a success, you guessed it right, funding! The Nation has one of the most comprehensive solar rebates and incentives schemes in the world, and though there is news that the solar multiplier will go down from 5 to 4 and will decrease more over the years, the scheme is still favorable and solar is making an excellent economic investment. The feed in tariff scheme in place also makes a very good deal for its citizens to make the switch to solar energy.
There are exciting times ahead in the next 5 years, as Australia is catching up to the world leaders in the large scale production of clean energy through massive solar energy parks, and the looming Carbon Tax provides strong incentive for industry to reduce their carbon emissions….. Every day home owners also have the opportunity to reduce or even eliminate their electric bills and reduce their carbon footprints as well, which is the primary global concern. This large switch to solar energy is also expected to lift economic growth and provide many new jobs, as well as provide individuals with lesser burden of bills and an opportunity for a new avenue of income via the tariffs.

Sunshine Coast Plan to have Solar Energy Park
Coolum Park west may soon have a 20 hectare park dedicated to sunlight harvesting to create clean solar energy for the residents of Sunshine Coast if it is approved by the council. Energy Parks of Australia have filed a development application to change 50 hectares in Valdora on the Sunshine Coast into a 50,000 solar panel power generator. If the development application would be approved, the construction would start by the end of the year and this will include the EPA partnering with a solar panel manufacturer that would develop a factory in Caloundra.
Energy Park Australia stated that the new solar park will help to elevate the region’s reputation as the leader in the development of the green energy solutions. Jason Hague, CEO said that the 50 hectares solar park will constitute 50,000 solar panels that would feed the power directly into the state’s electricity grid and it will also provide electricity for an estimated 2,500 homes.
Mr. Hague is quotes “In Valdora we are planning the first of hopefully multiple energy parks that can produce green power for the Sunshine Coast.” “This site is 50 hectares and the actual solar panels will cover about 20 hectares of the 50 hectare site and the other 30 remaining hectares will be rehabilitated with native vegetation species.”
The EPA model is based on identifying an appropriate sites and building several centralized energy parks across the Sunshine Coast.
It will also provide a large scale of photovoltaic (PV) or solar panels; As Mr. Hague said “This solution will goes a very long way to meet the council’s Energy Transition Plan endorsed in December 2010, which aspires for the Sunshine Coast to be low in carbon economy with council endeavoring to generate 40Mw of power from sustainable sources by 2015 and 100 Mw by 2020.”.
In addition to this Mr. Hague also added “The Valdora Energy Park will be a million plus venture and if successful with our application, we can aim to develop local partnership to deploy the technology on site, thereby further delivering economic benefits for the region.”
Investments of this magnitude will surely change how solar energy appeals to the locals once they see the true benefits of the investment and its benefits both in reduction of their carbon foot prints and electric bills, as well as the extra jobs created and boost to the local economy and the country as a whole.

Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry
Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry
In Solar Revolution, fund manager and former corporate buyout specialist
Travis Bradford argues--on the basis of standard business and economic forecasting
models--that over the next two decades solar energy will increasingly become the
best and cheapest choice for most electricity and energy applications. Solar
Revolution outlines the path by which the transition to solar technology and
sustainable energy practices will occur.Developments in the photovoltaic (PV)
industry over the last ten years have made direct electricity generation from PV
cells a cost-effective and feasible energy solution, despite the common view that PV
technology appeals only to a premium niche market. Bradford shows that PV
electricity today has become the choice of hundreds of thousands of mainstream
homeowners and businesses in many markets worldwide, including Japan, Germany, and
the American Southwest.Solar energy will eventually be the cheapest source of energy
in nearly all markets and locations because PV can bypass the aging and fragile
electricity grid and deliver its power directly to the end user, fundamentally
changing the underlying economics of energy. As the scale of PV production increases
and costs continue to decline at historic rates, demand for PV electricity will
outpace supply of systems for years to come.Ultimately, the shift from fossil fuels
to solar energy will take place not because solar energy is better for the
environment or energy security, or because of future government subsidies or as yet
undeveloped technology. The solar revolution is already occurring through decisions
made by self-interested energy users. The shift to solar energy is inevitable and
will be as transformative as the last century's revolutions in information and
communication technologies.
